Scott Yoselow at Gersh
CAILIN LOWRY is writer, director and producer based in Los Angeles. She enjoys all three of those jobs and sometimes does them simultaneously. She is choosing not to write the rest of this bio in third person.
My writing/directing focus is on content that makes people laugh and think, hopefully at the same time. Usually the stories I write are about women and pop culture. I currently write as an Internet vigilante named Katie here. I co-directed, wrote and produced the original short film GIRL BAND, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016. The short caught the attention of Will Gluck’s production company Olive Bridge Entertainment and was developed at Freeform (fka ABC Family) as a potential one-hour TV series. Most recently, I was hired by Refinery29 to develop and pitch a scripted project that I can’t say much more about as of updating this web page. (It sold, we’re happy, hire me to write things.)
I’ve produced commercials, narrative shorts and music videos for companies such as Disney, Atlantic Records, Puma, Anonymous Content and Roc Nation as well as for artists including Katy Perry and David Guetta.
My short film-slash-pilot proof of concept THE SOCIETY™️ will premiere on the festival circuit sometime in 2019. It’s about loneliness, dating apps, and power dynamics between women. E-mail me for the link.
I am one letter from having one of the most common names in America which has been a very formative part of my life. (It is Cailin not CaiTlin, but I respond to both). I was born in North Carolina, raised in Japan and China, and later graduated from film school at the University of Southern California. I am not fluent in Japanese or Mandarin, but speak enough to impress people who don’t speak those languages. (The bar is low.)
I enjoy medium-length walks, pop music, and retaining random information. My non-professional ambitions include adopting a dog, owning a quality coffee maker, and living in a place with a garage for my car only. It would also be nice to have my very own washer and dryer. A woman can dream. In the meantime, you can regularly find me at the laundromat right near the iconic foot clinic sign on Sunset Boulevard.
(My website is a .org instead of a .com because I'm in the midst of a not so epic battle to get my .com back from a domain squatting company. The Internet is a wild place.)
